Power Electronics: From Reliable Testing to Compliance
Modern power electronics demand more from both the design and the measurement setup. During this seminar, we will explore practical approaches to testing and validating today’s high-performance power systems.
Discover how to create realistic test conditions, use modern oscilloscopes for three-phase power analysis, achieve accurate and repeatable efficiency measurements, and navigate increasingly demanding compliance requirements.
With examples from battery systems, PV, motor drives and grid-connected applications, the sessions will connect measurement theory with real-world engineering challenges, helping you move confidently from development and verification towards compliance.
Join us for a day of practical insights, demonstrations and discussions with power electronics and measurement experts.

Stricter energy-efficiency regulations and power-density targets are pushing converters to the point where measurement errors can lead to significant mismatches. This presentation covers how to define efficiency at the right operating points in single- and multi-phase systems, capture input and output power, efficiency and power quality parameters in the presence of ripple, harmonics, and fast switching, and build a repeatable measurement process.
Every grid-tied power electronics product must clear a defined set of compliance and certification standards:
EMC compliance including harmonic and flicker limits at the LV connection
(IEC/EN 61000-3-2/-12 and 61000-3-3/-11) for CE marking, and proven conversion efficiency under real operating conditions, often above 95%, where measurement uncertainty can decide 80 PLUS and similar certifications. Distorted waveforms, dynamic loads, and rising power density make both tasks harder than datasheet numbers suggest. This session presents the standards that apply, and how T&M equipment can support the path from development through conformity.
